South Scotland MSP Colin Smyth has praised a new initiative in Lockerbie which aims to offer a ‘warm place’ for members of the public.
Organisers are providing free hot drinks, and also access to specialists who can help offer advice to people struggling with the cost of living.
The local MSP attended the first event on Saturday and is encouraging anyone who needs help to head along.
The organisers are planning to have a room open in the town hall one Saturday a month between October and March to act as a warm place for the community.
Colin Smyth said: “I was really happy to be able to head along to the first Lockerbie Warm Place event and see first hand what the organisers are planning.
“It is a brilliant initiative and I would urge anyone who is struggling or who needs somewhere warm to head along.
“The cost of living crisis is really starting to bite and as we move into the winter months, many of my constituents are very worried about the cost of their bills.”
