Colin Smyth MSP
South of Scotland MSP Colin Smyth has welcomed the news that the Langholm branch of the Cumberland Building Society partially re-opened last week after originally closing in March, following the decision to only keep key hubs open during lockdown.
Several constituents contacted Colin Smyth to express their concerns about the move and emphasise how important the building society is to many people in the town.
The branch will now open every second Wednesday from 1 to 4 pm, with the option to increase the hours at a later date.
Colin Smyth said: “I am delighted that the Cumberland Building Society has listened to its customers and re-opened the Langholm branch, albeit on a reduced scale.
“I received many complaints and concerns from Langholm residents who rely on the branch and while opening times are reduced, it is great that the option to increase hours remains on the table.
“I will continue to monitor the situation and ensure that people are able to access banking services in a safe way during this difficult time.”
