SOUTH SCOTLAND MSP GOES THE ‘EXTRA MILE’ FOR THE SCOTTISH POPPY APPEAL

South of Scotland MSP, Colin Smyth went the “extra mile” this week as he cycled for the Scottish Poppy Appeal.

n the lead up Remembrance Sunday, Colin Smyth MSP joined colleagues across the Scottish Parliament as he cycled “an extra mile” in aid of the Poppy Scotland.

The #ExtraMile campaign is to encourage people to get extra creative in their fundraising efforts this Remembrance Week and inspiring others to get involved.

Each year the Scottish Poppy Appeal raises over £2million to provide help and assistance to those who serve and those who have previously served in our armed forces.

Speaking at the event Colin Smyth MSP said, “Across our region we have a proud history of supporting Poppy Scotland. Whether it be the remembrance day parades and ceremonies which happen in almost every town and village in the region, to those working hard to raise funds for a whole range of projects which help those most in need who served in our armed forces and their families. I am proud to support that incredible work.  Poppyscotland righty believe that those who serve in the Armed Forces, and their families, deserve special recognition and support. I encourage everyone across Dumfries and Galloway to get involved. Whether by buying a poppy to wear or going the extra mile and fundraising in your local community, everyone can play their role in this year’s Scottish Poppy Appeal.”
